The 911 Turbo Cabriolet carried Porsche’s unrivalled experience of turbocharging from the racetrack to the road. Outstanding acceleration, cornering and road holding, all reflected Porsche’s heritage. But it is the 911 Turbo’s qualities of endurance and reliability that determined its suitability for everyday use.
Its 3.3 litre air-cooled turbocharged six cylinder horizontally opposed rear mounted engine, with 300 bhp DIN at 5,500 rpm, and maximum torque 430 Nm at 4,800 rpm. As in the racing Turbos, the hot boost air is cooled on its way from the charger to the butterfly valve by an intercooler. This ensures that maximum air pressure and optimum filling of the cylinders in maintained under all circumstances. The 911 Turbo’s performance figures are very impressive, accelerating from 0-62 mph in 5.2 seconds and had a maximum speed of 160 mph.
An iconic 1980’s supercar, which continues to excite enthusiasts and collectors all over the world.
